Tash Aw

Tash Aw was born in Taipei to Malaysian-Chinese parents. He lived in various countries in South East Asia before moving to England in his teens. He studied law at Cambridge and creative writing at the University of East Anglia, and now lives in London. His first novel, The Harmony Silk Factory, was published in 2005 to international critical acclaim. The work was longlisted for the 2005 Man Booker Prize and 2007 International Impac Dublin Award, and won the 2005 Whitbread Book Awards First Novel Award as well as the 2005 Commonwealth Writers Prize for Best First Novel (Asia Pacific region). It has been translated into seventeen languages. His second novel, Map of the Invisible World, was published in 2009.
