Aidan Hartley
Aidan Hartley was born in 1965 and brought up in East Africa. He read English at Balliol College, Oxford and later politics at London University. He joined Reuters as a foreign correspondent and has worked in the Balkans, The Middle East and Russia. He lives in Kenya with his wife and two children. Zanzibar Chest, published in 2003, was shortlisted for the Samuel Johnson Prize. Aidan’s next book, Wild Life, will be published in 2010 and is the story of his family’s move to a remote farm in Northern Kenya and their struggle to build a successful life for themselves there.
