Alistair Moffat

Alistair Moffat was born in 1950 in the Scottish Border country. He received degrees various universities including St Andrews, Edinburgh and London. In 1976 he took charge of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which burgeoned into the largest arts festival in the world. After a period as Scottish Television’s arts correspondent, he was appointed Controller of Features and then Director of Programmes. He became managing director of Scottish Television Enterprises in 1993 leaving in 1999 in order to concentrate on television production and writing.
