Richard Benson

Richard Benson grew up on his father’s pig farm in Driffield, East Yorkshire before heading to London to study at King’s College. He has worked as a journalist for a large range of media, including the Telegraph magazine, Vogue, Sleaze Nation, Blueprint and The Observer. Between 1995 and 1998 he was the editor of The Face and helped the magazine reach its highest circulation thus far. He then became group editor for Arena, Arena Homme Plus and Frank, before leaving to set up a cultural consultancy company called Bug, which has advised companies including Interbrew, Motorola, Ford, Nike, Levi’s and Microsoft. His first book, The Farm, received widespread critical acclaim. It reached number one in the UK non-fiction paperback list, was shortlisted for The Guardian First Book Award and selected for the Richard and Judy Book Club 2006. He is currently working on a book about the Industrial North.
